General Maintenance Technician

Facilities Department

12 Month Position

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks and responding to work orders submitted from various people throughout the District.

 

Qualifications: 

• Requires 2 to 5 years of job-related prior experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Requires 16 hours of Operations and Maintenance training.
• Requires completion of Asbestos Awareness Program.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintains and repairs plumbing and installs plumbing fixtures.
• Maintains and repairs the roof and downspouts on District buildings.
• Maintains and repairs interior and exterior windows and door hardware.
• Maintains and repairs floors and ceiling tiles.
• Installs and removes asbestos floor tiles.
• Maintains and repairs all playground and gym equipment.
• Maintains and repairs restroom fixtures and partitions.
• Welds and fabricates as needed.
• Installs, removes and repairs concrete.
• Repairs and/or replaces lockers.
• Installs and repairs window treatments.
• Repairs and assembles various equipment and furniture as per work order.
• Performs periodic surveillance for asbestos conditions.
• Assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
• Serves as a substitute custodian as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

COMPENSATION FOR EXPERIENCE IS CONSIDERED, 2026-2027 Classified Salary Schedule
