The Mehlville School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
Summer School Counselor (High School)
The responsibilities of Summer School Administrator includes, but not limited to, the following:
- Providing support services for students in the areas of personal, social, and education needs,
- Assessing and counseling students as needed,
- Providing support for students and families to assist with personal goals, concerns and understanding of educational programs,
- Responding to crisis situations as needed,
- Conducting group guidance activities in the classroom setting,
- Consulting with teachers to facilitate the infusion of guidance curriculum objectives into the regular curricula,
- Consulting with teachers, staff and families regarding the development needs of students, and
- Manages activities to support the guidance program and other school programs
Candidate Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills and can effectively problem solve issues to create a quality work environment during summer school. Successful candidates will support the acting summer school administrator in coordinating and implementing a successful summer school experience for students, families and staff. Active Missouri counselor certification is preferred for this position.
Terms of Employment
Work to include prior preparation of summer school programming plus the 4 week summer school period (June 1-June 26, 2026).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment. Ability to withstand long term use of video display terminals is required.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to regularly interact with the students, staff and the public.
Summer School Compensation: $33/hour for the 4 week (19 day) summer school session plus 14 additional hours of preparation prior to summer school.
Payment Schedule for Summer School ACS Stipend:
Friday, June 18th, 2026: 50% of stipend to be paid for work completed from June
1-June 12, 2026
Thursday, July 2, 2026: 50% of stipend to be paid for work completed from June 15-June 26, 2026
