Community Enrichment Strings Instructor is responsible for teaching string classes through the Mehlville School District Office of Community Enrichment.  The instructor will teach 20 classes per semester, the second session being a continuation on the first session, for a total of 40 classes per year.  The Community Enrichment Strings Instructor’s salary is based upon student recruitment and enrollment for the Community Enrichment students.  The instructor is also responsible for turning in student payments to the Community Enrichment Department. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires applicant to be a strings specialist (violin, viola, cello, and string bass knowledge required)
  • Requires some knowledge of the Suzuki Method
  • Requires 1-2 years of teaching experience in either private or group lesson settings

Essential Job Functions include the following:

  • Responsible for teaching students the fundamentals of their stringed instrument
  • Responsible for setting up a teaching schedule within the parameters of the Community Enrichment Strings Program
  • Responsible for communicating with students and their parents/guardians of class expectations, student achievement, class schedule and any cancellations due to teacher related issue or inclement weather
  • Responsible for communicating with the school office, Community Enrichment and the Strings Coordinator regarding schedule and updated enrollment.
  • Responsible for the supervision of students until they are released to class (before school) or picked up by parent/guardian (after school)
  • Other duties may be assigned
