Qualifications: Requires valid Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages (ELL) teaching certificate.
Position Summary: To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
- Identifies ELL student language proficiency level and develops strategies for individual learning plans.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers to link ELL and content standards in order to provide support to English language learners.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each ELL student.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Uses differentiated instruction and interventions to meet the needs of English language learners.
- Ensures that communications to parents are translated into parents’ home language whenever possible.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or principal.
