POSITION SUMMARY: Transports students to and from school and related functions. Inspects and maintains the school bus to ensure proper operating condition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Requires 0-2 years of job-related prior experience
- First Aid and CPR training required
- CDL, Class “B” with “S” and “P” endorsements preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Transports students of all ages to and from school and extra-curricular activities in a safe and timely manner
- Manages student behavior and maintains discipline on the bus
- Conducts and logs pre-trip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel level
- Conducts trip inspections after each run to check for vandalism, cleanliness, lost articles and sleeping children
- Maintains and tracks route data as mandated by school and state regulations.
- Performs CPR and First Aid on the bus as needed
- Reports mechanical problems to District mechanics
- Maintains the confidentiality of students’ discipline and medical records.
- Conducts monthly safety drills with students
- Interprets routes and maps and anticipates and analyzes road conditions and hazard
- Attends monthly safety meetings and workshops
- Converses with teachers and parents regarding the special needs of students
- Other duties may be assigned
