Community Education Coordinator
12 Month Position
The Community Education Coordinator oversees all aspects of community education programming, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality experiences for participants. Responsibilities include identifying and recruiting program instructors, creating class schedules, securing facilities, marketing programs, monitoring enrollment and managing registration. This position collaborates with a variety of other district departments and requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in marketing, education or recreation-related subject.
- Preferred 3 years of job-related prior experience.
- Excellent customer service skills in working with students, families, staff, administrators and the public.
- Ability to initiate, multitask and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced setting and on deadline. Strong attention to detail.
- Schedule may require availability to accept phone calls on weekends and evenings, when programs are in session, for emergency purposes
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of community education programming. Identifies and recruits program/staff instructors, creates class schedules, secures building usage, markets and monitors enrollment and registration. Purchases supplies for programs.
- Leads marketing and registration efforts for aquatics programs with the assistance of pool manager and assistant manager.
- Supervises instructors and vendors.
- Oversees Summer Camp operations. Schedules July programming, provides on-site supervision, manages vendor relations and payment, provides camp photography and social media updates, manages student check-in/departure, maintains active rapport with families/parents.
- Coordinates Portrait of a Graduate Parent Speaker Series, including securing speakers and marketing to existing parents and the community.
- Serves as the primary contact for all prospective and active Community Education program participants; uses multiple forms of communication to engage with and support participants. Register participants over the phone, as needed.
- Manages Community Education budget. Supervises the tracking of revenue and expenses, payments/refunds. Negotiates vendor contracts and instructor pay for community enrichment, processes employee pay vouchers and vendor invoices, creates and submits instructor invoices.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.
