Substitute School Nurse-RN
Position Summary: Responsible for providing medical care to students and staff.
Qualifications:
- Requires an Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited college or nursing school
- Requires 2 to 5 years of prior experience in a health-related occupation
- Required to be a Registered Nurse and maintain current licensure
- Knowledge of medical terminology, practices and procedure.
- Current CPR Certification with AED
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Ability to effectively supervise and motivate others
Essential Job Functions include the following:
- Manages a safe medication administration program according to District policy and state law
- Includes assessing need, effects, proper administration and documentation
- Assesses student and staff illnesses and injuries and prioritizes needs
- Provides first aid emergency care to students and staff
- Documents all health related activities
- Maintains school health records
- Documents student visits, care, dispositions and medications administered and accidents/incidents
- Identifies students with special needs, and informs those with a need to know
- Maintains confidentiality of all information encountered in the scope of responsibilities
- Acts as a resource to refer to community agencies and/or health care providers
- Participates as a health professional on care teams and IEP’s to develop and implements individual health plans to promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitation
- Provides information to parents regarding student health, community resources, etc.
- Other duties may be assigned
